It’s a massacre in Syria.  In its infinite wisdom, the UN is going to give them a seat on the human rights council! Syria has closed its borders, is rounding up citizens and slaughtering them. The UN is a joke. Sanctions are a joke.

A friend of mine founded this museum.  As a society, we always said, “Never again.”  But it happens again and again in different ways.

Coffee prices on a 35 year high.  This is a little bit about QE2, but really about a wiped out coffee crop last year.  It’s all about the weather.

Speaking of the weather, tornadoes continue to plague an area from Dallas, TX to Nashville, TN.  It’s La Nina.  Not Obama steering the tornadoes around.  Recall the far left wing saying Bush bombed the levees in New Orleans and steered Katrina into them!  13 days to get the corn crop in.

DA BULLS!

This is a big deal in the minority community.  I am with Prof. Perry, break up the cartels!  How many cities in the US are like Chicago?  Alderman stifle entrepreneurs here.  Why?  They have their hands out.  Maybe things will change with a new mayor.  Keep an eye on newly elected alderman Will Burns.  He is an uber liberal, but pushed legislation in Illinois to break up the cosmetology cartel for hair braiding. Maybe he can do the same for start ups in Chicago?

More government doom and gloom.  Pensions in deficit $1.2 trillion at the state level.  I think this means the dollar eventually gets weaker, but we don’t have inflation if states raise taxes to try and cover shortfalls.  Higher taxes=less revenue and a deeper hole.

Stocks up ahead of Bernanke. Spoke with a ES_F trader yesterday.  He said everyone sells it on the close, goes home short and buys it on the open.  The market is what it is and right now it wants to go up.  Bernanke isn’t stupid.  He knows how to play the game.

Dan Dicker reflects on the one year anniversary of the BP oil spill.  He likes Superior and Diamond Offshore.

Expect more of this under Obamacare.  They decide, you suck it up.

Economist John Taylor(classical) doesn’t like the Obama budget.  Permanent government spending.  By the way, much of the US is on the dole, getting government transfer payments.  I think that is “spreading the wealth around”.

Do high beta stocks have high returns?

College kids will be looking for summer jobs, how to hire them.

tip of the hat to Instapundit for this one, Obama’s college transcript. LOL.
